(STI) partnered with multi-national Canadian telecommunications giant TELUS International for its continuing education program in the Philippines – the TELUS International University (TIU).
An innovative program that will provide TELUS employees with opportunities to earn college degrees while concurrently working full-time, the TIU will offer classes at reduced costs to make college education more affordable and accessible to its team members through the STI Campuses near TELUS sites.
STI President and CEO Monico V. Jacob and TELUS International Philippines (TIP) President Jeff Uthoff inked the deal along with key representatives from both organizations on April 11, 2012 at the TELUS site in Market! Market! Taguig City.
“The Business Process Outsourcing industry is so competitive, the growth tremendous. By giving our team members a well-rounded foundation, we are preparing them for more opportunities in the industry,” said Jeff Uthoff when asked on why they have partnered with STI to provide continuing education to their employees. In addition, TIP Director for HR Leadership and Development Joel Pelayo also emphasized the advantage of having STI Campuses within walking distance from TIP sites in Metro Manila that will make it easier for their team members to attend their classes.
STI, with its highly diversified programs in Information and Communications Technology, Healthcare, Business and Management, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Engineering, and Arts and Sciences, will initially offer degree programs in Tourism Management and Culinary Management to TIP employees starting this incoming school year 2012-2013. These two programs were among the top choices of potential enrollees based on a survey conducted by TIP.
“We are very much looking forward to providing continuing education to TIU enrollees. As early as now, we are already geared to support them as they learn how to balance their work, life, and studies. As an educational institution, this partnership is significant to us because it means being able to help strengthen the workforce and increase the employability and productivity of a person,” shared Monico V. Jacob during the contract singing.
With this alliance, STI and TIP opens doors for a wider range of opportunities for professionals to discover their untapped creativity and to learn new skills through unique educational opportunities.
